Our goal is to raise the $5,000 needed for the program fee of Solar Spring Break 2017. The $5,000 will go towards the costs of the solar panels that will be installed. Money raised above $5,000 will help to cover travel costs and other student expenses that made the trip possible. Solar Spring Break has happened each year for the past 3 years by undergraduate students University of Michigan, and it's an opportunity for students to go on a service trip to San Diego to volunteer their time learning about and installing solar panels on low-income housing. This opportunity teaches undergraduates valuable lessons in equitable energy production and the solar installation process by working with staff and contractors of the California non-profit GRID Alternatives.
