Solar Powered Vehicle For Healthy Food Access
Organized by: Duron Chavis
For over 14 years I have been involved in some form of activism for my community. I need your help. I current serve as the director of the Harding Street Urban Agriculture Center; an indoor farm designed to increase healthy food access in Petersburg Virginia. My passion lies with Renew Richmond a nonprofit dedicated to community development through urban agriculture and we need your help.
I present you with an opportunity to invest in me (and us as a result). We need a sustainable transportation system for our farmers market in Richmond and you can help by investing in this project. We want to get an ELF; a solar-powered bike-car hybrid that will allow us to strategically locate our pop-markets wherever we want; giving us the flexibility to address the food desert issue in Richmond in an innovative way.
The ELF is a cross between a bicycle and a car. It has three wheels, pedals, a solar panel and a rechargeable battery (the ELF does not use gasoline). In our effort to increase access to healthy food it is important that we don't contribute to the problem of fossil fuel consumption trying to get fresh vegetables to the community. A truly sustainable solution in the equation for local food distribution; the ELF will literally change the life of Renew Richmond through making our pop up market truly mobile.
ELF 2FR LIMO × 1: $6,195.00
15AH Additional Battery × 2: $1,799.90
Bamboo Cargo Shelves × 1: $149.95
and more, of course (vehicle wrap, flyers, tent canopy, posters, totes and etc). If you can not give a monetary donation your love, advice and encouragement are still very much welcomed and appreciated.
WIlling to write, speak, teach workshops for donation as well.
