RACE DAY TOMORROW
October 27, 2017
Tomorrow I embark on my first half marathon with 115% of my fundraising goal made! I cannot tell you all how encouraging that is to me! This See more
I've been wanting to run a half-marathon for a while, now. When I started looking for races and setting my personal goals, it became very apparent to me that I need a reason run- a cause that I'm physically helping to push me through the question, "why did I sign up for this?!" When I found the Jazz Half, I found just that- the cause to purpose my path... my long, 13.1 mile path. Even when I feel that it isn't well with my soles, I can know that it is well with my soul because I will be running every step to stomp childhood cancer. Where I'm not skilled to be the scientist that will create the cure nor the nurse that can handle needles, I can certainly do my part to help fund research and hospitals that help. I can run. Aside from my personal running goals I also have a goal that I would like to raise for the Children's Hospital New Orleans, which specializes in treating children with cancer. Here's a little bit about the facility: "In 1955, Children's Hospital was dedicated as a 50-bed facility, designed to serve primarily polio victims and physically handicapped children. Today, Children's Hospital New Orleans is a 247-bed medical center serving the entire Gulf South region and caring for children from birth to twenty-one years. Our hospital is Louisiana’s only free-standing, acute care general pediatric hospital, and we maintain a policy of never turning away a child who needs the care we offer." I hope you choose to partner with me whether it be through donating money, prayers, or encouragement. Here's to the lucky 13 (point one).
