BENEFITING: Court Appointed Special Advocate of Humboldt
EVENT: CASA Kid Walk 2015
EVENT DATE: Oct 03, 2015
Did you ever want to be a superhero? To fight the good fight? To do something amazing!? Spectacular? Incredible?! Well now you can, because CASA of Humboldt County needs your help! I believe every child deserves a safe and loving home. Sometimes the families we are born into have difficulties and parents find it hard to help themselves; the children are neglected, forgotten, even abused. They feel worthless, unsafe and unloved – and scared. This is why I walk for CASA and this is why I’m on the CASA of Humboldt Board of Directors.
My goal is to raise at least $2,000 – that’s how much it takes to recruit and train one advocate for one year. Please help me help CASA by supporting my Kid Walk Team with any amount of a financial donation or email me at email@example.com with a name of a business that may sponsor me or a friend that may want to buy raffle tickets!
It is every child’s birthright to know they are loved; to feel safe and secure; to feel their greatness and have at least one constant voice in their life that listens to them, speaks for them, and lets them know they fundamentally matter. From that place, they move into the world and can be happy, feel capable and trusting, and do great things.
In 2014, over 350 CASA volunteers – Superheroes – joined CASA. But the need for courageous advocates is still great. Humboldt County has 312 children and CASA has advocates for 91 of them, less than 30% primarily because there aren't enough volunteers.
You can also become an advocate for a child and make a huge difference in their life. The next training is October 14-November 18th on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-9:00 at the CASA office. Find out more and download the application at www.humboldtcasa.org. There are yet mighty deeds to be done …
