Solo Survivors is a new organization formed to provide support for single people who are dealing with cancer. This is not a dating service, but rather a place to feel connected to a larger community of singles who are facing similar challenges for support, sharing and advice.
On August 25-28, 2011, Solo Survivors is hosting its 2nd annual 3-day canoe and camping trip on the Colorado River. The canoe trip offers singles with cancer an opportunity to have a fun outdoor adventure while connecting with other single cancer survivors.
Since many single cancer survivors have financial constraints, the cost to participant is $50. This fee only covers a small percent of the total trip costs. Solo Survivors and our charity partner Tamika & Friends is only able to support this trip with the generous donations from our community, family and friends. Know that your donation, however small or large, will go toward sending a single cancer on this amazing trip. All donations are tax deductible.
In August of 2010, Solo Survivors sponsored its first canoe and camping trip for 14 survivors. Here is some of the feedback from the participants.
- This weekend was the happiest that I have felt since my diagnosis. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
- Thank you so much for making this an incredible trip for me. It was just what I needed. No treatment could have made me more able beat this cancer than the experience I had this weekend.
If you are a single cancer survivor and are interested in attending the canoe and camping trip, check out the trip details. http://canoeconnection2011.eventbrite.com/
