BENEFITING: Somaly Mam Foundation
EVENT DATE: Jul 05, 2014
Hello generous people. We're Maeve and Abby, two A-level students from Manchester, England, and we have decided to use our silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition to raise money for the Somaly Mam Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on combating the global sex slave trade.
The foundation rescues young girls from brothels, gives them shelter and support, educates them, teaches them skills they can utilise when they reintegrate back into society, and helps them heal. Your donations will help Somaly and her dedicated team reach out to more vulnerable young women, and will help stop sex slavery.
We were inspired to do something after we saw Shay Mitchell's experience with the foundation, highlighting the severity of the situation and the ease at which we in the Western world can help change the circumstances.
So, from the 5th to the 7th of July 2014, we will undertake a 3-day, 50km expedition, to do what we can to raise money for this incredible foundation, and we hope you will donate what you can to help end this cruelty. Thankyou.
Love, Abby and Maeve
