THE STORY:

Munchie Morgan Clement wrote -

Hi, all.

For those of you who don't know me, I lost my younger sister Sarah - my only sibling - to suicide on April 1, 2014 after watching her battle a drug addiction for years. Heroin was her ultimate downfall, and she died 17 days before my wedding day.

Sarah was beautiful, and strong, and selfless, and she loved without boundaries. She had the voice of an angel, the heart of a lion, and she could bring a downtrodden stranger some hope just by smiling. Her contagious laugh is what we all miss the most - she'd almost lose control of her body when she was laughing really hard at something and everyone around her would be in hysterics right along with her before they even knew what was funny.

While she was still alive, she told everyone around her not to follow her down the same path. She would give her own life to save someone else's, and in the end, that's exactly what happened.

In the eulogy I wrote for my sister, I vowed to keep sharing her story in an effort to help someone else's Sarah gain some strength from our loss. I promised to keep showing her heart to the world so that someone else's Sarah could stand up where she fell. I told her that someone, somewhere, will wear Sarah's story as their own medal of valor.

I've been writing blogs for a treatment center down in Florida, sharing my sister's heart and soul with the world, and as of right now over 60,000 people have read about my sister and her fight with addiction.

And I know one thing to be true - I couldn't have gotten this far, I couldn't have trudged my way through my grief for the last year and a half, without the people I've met through atTAcK Addiction. Last year's 5K was absolutely incredible, and one of the most beautiful events I've ever attended. To see that amount of people, all joined together in an effort to end the stigma associated with addiction that had affected all of us in one way or another was awe inspiring, to say the least.

And I can't wait to do it again this year.

So come, join our team, help save Someone Else's Sarah, and if you can't be there, please donate to the cause that has become my saving grace.

Thank you.

Saudade. SKM.

PS if you want to read what I wrote about last year's 5K, you can do so here. Be prepared for chills, goosebumps and tears when you watch the the video at the end.
