We are very excited once again to be part of the Purple Purse Challenge!
Last year 108 women and 93 children, all victims of Domestic Violence, from every walk of life in Trumbull County, called Someplace Safe "home".
Our shelter is full. And it's been full or nearly full all year. The fact is we need your help so we can house more victims and children of Domestic Violence in our community.
Our cupboards are bare. Feeding our "family" - which for most of the year has been at least 30 women and children from toddlers to teens - has taken a lot of our resources.
Our shelter needs work. Our shelter is dated and needs lots of TLC. Imagine 30 people living in your house - 20 of them children - everyday. That's a whole lot of love!
The money raised from the Purple Purse Challenge will be used to meet these needs.
We want to give back to you by offering a chance to win "The Purple Purse" designed by none other than "Scandal's" own Kerry Washington!
Why a Purple Purse? Well, the purse stands for the financial freedom that's taken away from a woman in a domestic violence situation.
"1 in 4 women will be a victim of domestic violence in her lifetime. 98% are trapped by an invisible weapon- financial abuse."
And purple is the color of Domestic Violence Awareness.
By donating $50 or more, you will be entered in a drawing to win "The Purple Purse! At the end of October,we'll draw a name and one lucky winner will win the purse!
