We deeply appreciate your support of our 24 hours of Stratton downhill skiing marathon. Now that the four of us are safely back in Charlotte and Nashville, we wanted to say “thanks” one more time, and let you know how it went. The short story is - We did it! – our team of four made at least two runs in all 24 hours (108 runs total), with more 106,000 feet of vertical descent, and we raised over $2600 for the Stratton Foundation. From noon until about 11 PM on Saturday we mostly skied together. The weather was cloudy but warm (30’s). Through the night we traded off as the weather turned colder, snowy, and windy. Andrew skiied from 11 PM – 1 AM, Jim from 2-4 AM, and Kyle 5 and 6 AM. By morning the weather had cleared, but it was cold (~ 5 degrees) with strong northerly winds. Kyle and Jim had three fantastic runs from the top on fresh snow just after sunrise, but soon they closed the gondola because of winds gusting up to 50 mph. After more than a little sleepy grumbling, Carol, Jim and Kyle skiied the lower mountain together until we made our last run at about 11:30 AM on Sunday. All in all it was a good first showing with the only casualties being four sets of very sore muscles and some serious levels of sleep deprivation. All that will heal, and we’ll begin to consider whether we try it again with new goals next year. Thanks again for being a part of it.

Warm regards, Andrew, Carol, Jim, and Kyle Bowen

Sonja, thanks so much for yo…
Sonja, thanks so much for your donation to our 24 Hours of Stratton fundraising campaign. As of right now we are only $50 away from our goal of $2400 raised and 24 hours of skiing by the family. This is a great event I (Jim) think. It's a way to honor Mom, and to help a good cause while doing something fun together as a family. It's gratifying to know that we will have lots of support from our dear friends in Charlotte.

We will be updating our progress on my (Jim's) facebook page and by email. Thanks again for your support.
Warm regards,
Jim, Carol, Kyle, and Andrew Bowen
PS Jim is expecting Andrew to send his own thank you but I (Jim wanted to be sure you got something)
