BENEFITING: The Visiting Nurse Association of Texas
EVENT: Team Asics NYC Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Friends and Family:
Thankful for my good health, I want to express my gratitude by helping in the fight against hunger. I will be running the NYC Marathon on November 3, 2013. I will not win nor will I compete. My goal is to participate and try to fight hunger through my fundraising efforts.
I am raising funds for VNA and the Meals on Wheels program. I drive and deliver a monthly Meals on Wheels route with my mom and my sister, and I ask you to join me in supporting seniors in need.
All around us are seniors in desperate need of nutritious meals and human contact. VNA volunteers and staff work through the Meals on Wheels program to serve qualified homebound seniors and disabled adults, helping them remain in their homes with dignity and independence.
VNA's Meals on Wheels provides nutritious, freshly prepared, hot meals to Dallas County residents who can't provide for themselves due to illness, advanced age or disability.
Thanks to the generous support of sponsors and nearly 4,000 volunteers, the meals are prepared in the Beatrice M. Haggerty Kitchen and delivered along with kind words and a caring spirit.
Every year, one million meals are delivered to homebound seniors or served at senior centers in Dallas County by nearly 4,000 volunteers. However, there is a waiting list of seniors who are not being served but CAN be with YOUR support.
Please give what you can. No amount is too small, and I know that it will be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have an interest in driving a Meals on Wheels route, or would like to join me on mine, please contact me directly.
Helping people live at home with dignity for as long as safely possible is at the heart of VNA services. Caring, listening and responding to patients' quality of life and comfort issues is what VNA has done since 1934. VNA provides Hospice Care, Meals on Wheels, Private Care, and Aging Resources.
