Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery due to bad infection
Organized by: Stephanie Bell
This is a really critical time in both of my sons lives. I am a mother of 4 wonderful kids. My oldest is a 12 year old boy. He will be 13 on April 4th. My daughter is 10 years old and I have 6 year old twin boys who started kindergarten in August. Let's start off with my youngest son. His name is Evan. He was brought into this world through c-section and he was also breached. He had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. This is the reason we found out that his femur was broken. This boy is a trooper and I love him so much! I remember getting the bill for his leg being broken not to include rehibilitation. Although we qualified for assistance and had private medical insurance. Out of that $130k+ bill we were left with about $26,xxx+ that medical insurance and grants didn't cover. Even today we are still taking him up to appointments to insure his legs are growing proportional. There is a slight diffefence in length that should not affect his quality of life. Evan is now 6 and we have been taking him to the pediatrician since he got back from neonatal care for his leg. Evan has had breathing issues since he was an infant and it has gotten worse. We have given him breathing treatments with no avail. He is congested 24 hours a day. He has really bad hearing because of this and he struggles with day to day activities. The pediatrician told my husband and I that when Evan hears anything it is as if he is underwater due to the amount of fluid build up in his ears. He is due for surgery coming up in July 2016 during summer break to get his tonsils and adenoids removed. Tubes installed in his ears to drain any fluids and tubinate bones involved with mucuous membranes in his nose will be removed. He will be an outpatient at this Ear, Nose and throat facility. I'm happy for my son and scared to death at the same time. Such a big surgery for such a brave little boy. The cost is what also worries me and my husband in which everything will have to be paid out of pocket. The total will be over $22k USD. My oldest son needs braces too. To include all 4 of the kids in the near future. I am being told that with my daughter that they might have to dislocate her jaw to insure she does not have a underbite. Well my oldest will have braces installed and for the next 24 months he will have to come in once every month. This will cost approximately $4,800 - $7,000.00 for miscellaneous things if things pop up. Just being told to be prepared. I am glad that my children should be better after all of this. Now for the bad news. Everything will have to be paid out of pocket. My husband lost his medical and dental appoximately 2 months ago. He was injured and cannot work. He is a veteran and does recieve 70% from the VA. He suffers from PTSD, Bad knees and annular tears in his L4/L5 and L5/S1. He is trying to get better and needs back surgery. Please help our family. We really need the prayers and any donations to keep our head a float. I know that I will need to find a job soon so we don't lose our home. Hopefully things get better soon.
