On April 15th, 2017, the Executive Director of Sophia’s Fund; Tony Stoddard began an epic journey, he is attempting to hike the entire 2,200-mile distance of the Appalachian Trail.
This is the longest “hiking-only” footpath in the world! He will travel through 14 states. The elevation gain/loss of hiking the entire Appalachian Trail is the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest 16 times!
This journey is designed to create greater awareness of childhood cancer and to raise desperately needed funding for kids fighting cancer.
Hiking 2,200 miles works out to 5 Million Steps! Our goal is to raise $1 for each of the 5 million steps I will take, can you help us take one more step to help kids fighting cancer?" With your generosity, Sophia’s Fund will be able to help many children fighting cancer and their families with financial and emotional needs and to also help fund promising childhood cancer research initiatives.
At this point Tony Stoddard has hiked close to 500 miles of the trail, taking more than 1 million steps so far through treacherous terrain, over numerous mountains, plowing through many types of harsh weather.
Although he was injured at the 300-mile mark, Tony has refused to give up his pursuit to raise awareness and funding each step of the way!
