As you probably know already, poverty has been and still is an ever-pressing issue within the United States. However, what you may not know is that over 50 million Americans (approximately 15% of households) are food insecure. This means that, although they may have the two basic needs of shelter and clothing, they often lack the most essential need of all, FOOD. Can you imagine what it must be like to be hungry on a daily basis, with no access to food? To not know where your next meal will come from? To survive on the generosity of others? I know I can't.
That is why we became involved with Move for Hunger, a non-profit organization that assists in the transportation of boxes of food from a variety of sources to a variety of food banks. They are currently operating in 46 states, moving food that would otherwise be wasted in the moving process from households, moving food that has been donated to local food drives, and moving food from events that are organized by Move for Hunger, in order to distribute as much food as possible to those who need it most.
Therefore, if you are in the position to do so, please consider donating to this worthwhile cause. A little bit can go a long way and no donation is too small! Together, let us support our fellow Americans and help make it so that no child, no teenager, and no adult will ever have to experience the sufferring associated with being food insecure.
