The Wistar Institute is a leading independent research institute in Philadelphia whose mission is to advance cures for cancer and infectious diseases.
The Foundation for Melanoma Research was founded in 1999 by Noreen O’Neill, Director of Research and Development at the First Union Center in Philadelphia. Noreen was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 1995, and when her disease metastasized a few years later, she looked to volunteer with organizations dedicated to advancing treatments for melanoma patients. On July 30, 2000, after a courageous fight against the disease, Noreen lost her life to malignant melanoma. The Noreen O’Neill Foundation for Melanoma Research (NOFMR) was founded on the belief that research can and does change lives for the better and since its beginnings it has partnered with The Wistar Institute's (Wistar) melanoma researchers.
In July, the Noreen O’Neill Foundation for Melanoma Research will be transitioning the research fund officially to Wistar. Wistar is hosting a SoulCycle Charity Ride to support the Noreen O’Neill Melanoma Research Fund. The ride will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2 pm at SoulCycle in Ardmore, Pa. Tickets will be $50 per bike and we are asking all riders to fundraise for their 45 minute ride via crowdrise.
