Hey Family and Friends! I have the privilege of helping to provide medical care to farm workers in South Georgia this Summer, a program that Mercer allows its 2nd year Physician Assistant Students to volunteer in. Most of these individuals are in the US on work visas and assist in gathering crops on various farms, often in sweltering conditions and with very little medical help. They pick buckets and buckets of tomatoes, bell peppers and other vegetables in order to make their wages: 1 35 lb bucket = $.47. With your help you can help me provide medical assistance for these farm workers and their children assessing chronic conditions such as diabetes & hypertension, providing simple medications for things like GERD, migraines, and muscle aches, and lastly giving them a helping hand in a place where they need it most! I will be working from 7 AM to 12 AM for the week of 6/11/2016 - 6/16/2016 in Bainsbridge, GA (4 hours south of Atlanta) Here is the breakdown of the cost of the trip that I need help with the most: $250 for housing/food $20 headlamp $10 bug spray/sunscreen $10 hat with mosquito net $50 transportation Thank you so much for your constant support and prayers! I could not have gotten this far in PA school without all of your encouragement! :) Any extra will be donated to the Farm worker's project:
