EVENT DATE: Jul 05, 2016
SSHS is competing again in the Michelson Found Animals Saving Pets Challenge! We're small but we're mighty and we know we can win!
Our goal is to raise $52,100 for much needed equipment and repairs. With your donations we will:
1) Purchase a new transport vehicle. Our existing vans have 300,000 miles or more on them and are in constant states of disrepair. We need a new efficient vehicle for transporting pets safely from other shelters to ours as well as to off-site adoption events and estimate the total cost of purchase and outfitting the vehicle will be $35,000.
2) Repair the roof above multipurpose room. The roof is in terrible shape and needs $11,000 of repair including the installation of a roof drain where none exists. We must do this before winter or it will likely collapse.
3) Install a laundry unit in our Cat Isolation Annex. We've been able to significantly decrease illness in cats by isolating them in the building we own to the north of the shelter. The building does not have its own laundry and will cost $2,100 to install the plumbing/draining necessary. We had a washing machine and a dryer donated so we just need the costs of installation.
4) Replace the broken surgery light at the Spay/Neuter Clinic. In a summer of multiple things breaking, the surgery light succumbed as well and cost $4,000 to replace.
If we are so fortunate as to raise more than our goal, we will use the extra money towards life-saving heartworm treatments and other medical needs of pets who come into our care!
