South African Consultant
Organized by: Lindsey Powers
EVENT DATE Jun 10, 2015
The Entrepreneurship and Empowerment in South Africa Program invited me to assist impoverished small businesses in a consulting program this summer. Many of these ventures, which include catering businesses, community newspapers and small construction companies, are run by those without the business experience and education that many of us in America take for granted. Over the 6 week program, I will spend approximately 250 hours working to provide specific deliverables to my client. As such, donating to this cause is the exact same concept as donating to a marathoner who's training to run 26.2 miles.
As a young professional who's passionate about volunteering and becoming a small business consultant, I'm thrilled to finally be able to combine these passions.
The reason for this fundraiser is to help alleviate the heavy financial stress that will incur. By donating to this fundraiser, you will be helping to fulfill my dreams of becoming a consultant and the dreams of an impoverished entrepreneur as I help turn their survival firm into a more viable company.
Your financial support will help offset the financial burden of this trip. The fundraising goal is the total cost of the trip which includes roundtrip airfare, local transportation, housing, instruction, books, international health insurance, and emergency medical assistance. Any aid you can provide (donating, sharing this story, and/or providing helpful guidance) would be greatly appreciated.
