EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Hello and Welcome to my 2015 Boston Marathon Fundraising page.
I am very excited to be running the Boston Marathon with the South Shore Hospital Team to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Center at South Shore Hospital.
I have been running on and off for years, and got back into it seriously in the last 2 years. However, it has always been my dream to run the Boston Marathon. From the very first time I laced up a pair of running shoes in High School (Thank You Coach Perry Larkin) to finishing my most recent Half, I knew this was something I could do.
Cancer unfortunately, has affected more of our friends and loved ones than we want to admit, and I feel fortunate to be able to do something to help those seeking treatment here at Dana Farber here in Weymouth. Especially knowing that one of my Uncles and my best friend’s mom (my second mom) is currently receiving treatment here and I couldn't be prouder to just feel I am helping them in some small way, love you Uncle Nick and Lainzo.
Last but not least, my cousin Sandy (the beautiful girl in the picture with me) is the true inspiration that pushed me to do this. Although she isn't receiving treatment here (she lives in California), she is a 43 year old mom of 4 currently, battling and winning this fight.
I appreciate you visiting my site, reading my babble and any help you can give to this more than worthy cause.

Thanks to the ongoing partnership with John Hancock Financial, the South Shore Hospital Boston Marathon Team has been able to raise $325,000 since inception through the Boston Marathon to support its mission of healing, caring and comforting. As the largest hospital in the region and the 7th largest in Massachusetts, South Shore Hospital receives over 400,000 patient visits each year. Patients and their families have access to the most advanced medical care through the Hospital’s longstanding clinical affiliations with Children’s Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital.
The 2015 South Shore Hospital Marathon Team will support our comprehensive cancer care program. Cancer is the leading cause of death in Massachusetts and the single biggest health threat to the 725,000 residents of the South Shore. At South Shore Hospital, a program was developed in response to high patient demand for world-class cancer care close to home. Each year, more than 1,000 new patients seek care at our Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center in clinical affiliation with South Shore Hospital. Marathon funds will support the latest diagnostic technology, advanced surgical procedures, comprehensive inpatient care and access to clinical trials, new therapies and expert clinicians.
