I want to fill you in on a few of the various changes in my life. This year I have been a Resident Assistant living in the halls at Colorado State University. Through this I have built upon leadership skills, communication, and planning/organizing events. Additionally I joined a Professional Business Fraternity; Delta Sigma Pi. Most importantly though, I have joined CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ) an on-campus ministry that has helped me grow in my faith over the last two years. CRU is an organization that walks side by side with college students in their spiritual walk, to be there as support, and create a community that follows Christ.
Freshmen year, my friend Keenan Coit asked me to go to a CRU meeting with him to check out campus ministries. From getting involved with CRU, we now are presented an opportunity to go on a Summer Project trip to Cape Town, South Africa, this coming summer. As of this spring semester, I have realized that it is time to wake up and take a risk (jump out of my comfort zone as you would say.) Six weeks in Cape Town would probably be classified as one of those opportunities that will push you into truly living your life for Christ. During this time, we will serve and encourage those who live in poverty-stricken townships, reaching out to college age students and sharing the gospel. This will present an amazing opportunity to grow in our own faith. Personally I have been called to Cape Town to help the children in the community, to be there for them when others haven’t been able to.
In order to be able to go, I need to find a team of ministry partners that will support me prayerfully and financially. Before even talking about that, I am asking you individually to pray about this opportunity to see if this is something that you would truly want to support me in. This mission trip is not only an opportunity for me, but for those that also support me in this ministry. You will see the impact of our work in areas that have so little through the updates I will provide along with other ways of communication.
With that said, I have less than one month (June 23rd, 2013) to reach my goal of $5,700 in support. In this, I ask with faith, that you prayerfully consider joining me as a partner in this ministry by donating $100, $200, or more to help reach this goal. Naturally, whatever the Lord places on your heart is all I can ask. With a little faith and support from those that find themselves holding this letter, I have no doubt it is possible.
I appreciate you taking time to read through this letter and joining me in my journey to Cape Town. You can make checks payable to CRU for tax deductible purposes. Or if you prefer to give online, go to Give.cru.org and on the search bar type my name. I will give you a call in May to see what your thoughts are if I haven’t heard from you. If you have any questions, you can reach me by email at Jbestle29@gmail.com or you can give me a call at (970) 260-3522.
