We will be holding an Erg-A-Thon on Sunday, Feb 22, 2015 at the Poughkeepsie Galleria. This is a fundraiser to allow us to replace our aging shells (two 4s).
Nearly 20 years ago the Spackenkill Rowing Club was formed to promote the sport of rowing at Spackenkill High School. In those twenty years our team has won numerous races, countless league championships, won at states, and rowed at Nationals. We have had rowers and coxswains recruited by colleges and some of our athletes have received scholarship money. These colleges include Colgate, University of West Virginia, University of Connecticut, Vassar, and University of Rhode Island. As we move forward, another group of rowers seek to leave their mark on the Spackenkill rowing team and propel it to greater achievements. In order to help them do this we need to provide them with the necessary boats and equipment. We currently own three 4s, the youngest is 8 years old and another one is beyond repair and not safe to row, so we need to raise $20,000 to buy a new 4 boat. As part of our fund raising efforts, the rowers will be working together to row 1,000,000 meters culminating at the Galleria Mall on February 22, 2015. Any donation would be greatly appreciated by the team and will help us to continue the great tradition of rowing at Spackenkill.
