Three years ago my big brother died after struggling with schizophrenia for more than half his life.
Loving family members with severe mental illness and suffering the ultimate loss of both my brother and my cousins, Glen, and Keith has shown me how much needs to be done in not only the advancement of medicines and education but also in the care and treatment of the over 2 million people in America that suffer from severe mental illness such as schizophrenia.
On October 9, 2016 I will run the full 26 mile Portland Marathon in honor of my big brother, James Packard Jr., "Jimmy" and his battle with mental illness.
All donations made will go to Treatment Advocacy Center, a respected organization dedicated to the advancement of education, psychiatric care and medical research of severe mental illness.
