Spark MicroGrants’ vision is a world where everyone lives with dignity and determines their own positive future. For six years, we have tested our novel village-strengthening model in Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with results that show our model not only leads to long-term community-driven outcomes but is replicable across contexts. Spark provides six months of weekly facilitated meetings and a seed grant of $8,000 to each village partner, enabling members to collectively design and launch a project of their choice, such as a farm to improve nutrition or a school where their children can learn.
This November, we are celebrating a new milestone in Spark’s growth trajectory: 100,000 lives reached. All 100,000 represent 140 village partners that have gone through the Spark process and are part of a growing movement of local communities driving local change. In 2017, we hope to build more partnerships with villages throughout east Africa, and we need your help.
Generous partners have put forward a challenge to collectively raise $100,000 before year end. They have already committed $50,000 as a matching grant, dollar for dollar, for each contribution we receive between now and December 31, 2016. That means if we raise $50,000 by the end of the year, we'll be able to invest $100,000 into collaborative partnerships with more villages in east Africa.
Join the movement and stand with us by contributing to our shared goal of $50,000!
