BENEFITING: AUTISM SPEAKS
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
Dear Friends and Family –
Would you please join me as I run the Boston Marathon on April 15th to try to raise money for my seven year old nephew, Alex Morrone, who was diagnosed with Autism.
On August 30, 2006, Alex entered the world to two loving parents, my brother Jon, and his wife Pei who became increasingly concerned about Alex’s development. After his MMR vaccine, Alex’s condition degraded to the point that he became withdrawn, began to lose his ability to speak, and developed uncontrollable auto reflex behaviors. At age two, Alex was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Today, Alex is almost 7 years old and every day is critical in terms of his care. He requires constant supportive speech and physical therapy as well as reinforcement for good behaviors. Therapy costs are escalating and are not always covered by insurance. Jon and Pei continue to struggle to provide for Alex’s needed therapy. Jon temporarily lost work at his high tech company and Pei is not only dedicated to Alex’s full-time care but also studies at the local academy to learn more techniques on how to care for Alex. Although Alex is very fortunate to have generous friends and family, there is more work to be done!
Would you please join me on April 15th as I dedicate my running of the Boston Marathon to Alex Morrone? On Alex’s behalf, I thank you for any contribution you can make in these difficult times. I believe there is a real chance for us to make a dramatic effect on Alex’s future by providing Alex with the care he needs.
Donations may be sent directly to my home address and checks can be payable to myself or Alex Morrone.
