Speak In Slam
Organized by: Nikolaas Mirage
Slam poetry is my life, the stage is one of the only places I've ever called home. I've been slamming for a while now and find that it's more than putting my words out there- I'm constantly pouring myself into pages and pages of slams that I then memorize and perform in front of friends and strangers. I've never put out a chapbook because I always said to myself "But who would read it?" I have enough confidence in myself now to know that what I have to say is not only relevant but important. I write about being trans*, queer, kinky, and abused. I write about my time being homeless and how that changes my entire perspective on things. I write about everything that's important to me because that's what I know. I write like a pair of sunglasses for everyone else to see things through.
