Our mission is to increase the number of ethnically diverse professionals working as leaders in the field of library and information science to best position libraries at the heart of today’s culturally diverse communities.
The American Library Association’s Spectrum Scholarship provides 50-60 students a year with a $5,000 monetary award for expenses associated with obtaining a master’s degree or library media certification from an ALA-accredited program; free student membership in ALA; free travel and lodging to support attendance in a Spectrum Leadership Institute; and free admission to ALA’s annual conference.
