In late October 2016 Stray Rescue of St. Louis identified an outbreak of distemper amidst its shelter dog population. Distemper is a highly contagious viral infection with NO KNOWN CURE. Juveniles, seniors, and immune-compromised dogs are at highest risk.
The effects of the outbreak have been devastating to the shelter pets and their human caregivers.
Until the outbreak is under control, the shelter cannot take in any more animals. This is where you can help! Fight with us to protect Stray Rescue's beloved companion animals. With winter just around the corner, shelter space is critical.
Join us at Pedal Pedal Cycling Studio on Sunday, December 4, 2016 for a fundraising spin to support Stray Rescue of St. Louis during this crisis. Our cycling coaches will motivate you throughout your ride! Pledge to support our pack at any level you can give. All proceeds go directly to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
Stray Rescue of St. Louis is St. Louis City's premier no-kill shelter. For twenty years it has been the region's most prominent dog advocate. Its mission to raise awareness about responsible pet guardianship has had a measurable positive impact on the area's stray pet population. In collaboration with city officials and concerned community members, Stray Rescue saves thousands of neglected, abused, and stray animals annually.
Can't support the cause financially? Consider fostering a Stray Rescue shelter pet, volunteering, or donating goods. More information about how to help here.
