My name is Melanie Horel and I am a proud Camp Ernst Alumni. I would love to help give back to children who are not able to get the same experiences that I was able to experience as a child. I was a camper at Camp Ernst starting at the young age of 7. I started as a camper, then at age 15 I was a Crew member/E-team member, Junior counselor (lifeguard), Senior counselor, eventually a Unit Leader , and now I have the privilege to be a Board Member. I have the most amazing memories from days at camp. As a kid growing up my most fond memories revolve around my "camp life". Camp is a place for all kids to get a chance to feel not judged, meet new friends, and experience the outdoors. This was a place of friendship, happiness, and positive experiences that have lead me into adult hood. I remember as a camper learning about myself and how I would always want my children to get a chance to attend camp also. I remember looking up at the small opening through the circle of trees every Friday night camp fire wishing I had just one more night. Whether I was a counselor or a camper I wanted to always be able to be at camp. It is such a great place to grow up during the pivotal years of a child or young adults life. I am blessed to have had the opportunity when I was younger. So Please join me and help raise money to allow those campers who can benefit from such a positive experience and positive role models. My children both attend camp and love every second of it.
