BENEFITING: Food Bank For New York City
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
In about 20 days, I'm going to run the NYC Marthon for the first time. I was able to gain my entry by doing enough races throughout the year, so I didn't have to raise any money for charity like a lot of people do to enter. However, I felt like this was a wasted opportunity to do something positive, so I've set up this page to raise money for the Food Bank for New York City. The marathon runs through every borough of the city and there are lots of people that can use some help.
According to the Food Bank for New York City, throughout the five boroughs, approximately 1.4 million people rely on soup kitchens and pantries, 2.9 million experience difficulty affording food for themselves and their familes, and more than 3 million New Yorkers live in low-income neighborhoods that lack access to affordable, nutritious food.
Since I already have my entry to the marathon, there's no minimum amount of money that I need to raise to race. I'm only asking for for whatever you may feel comfortable donating, whether it be $26 ($1 for every mile I run), $260, $2.60, anything in between.
Whether you can donate or not, come out on November 4th and cheer me and all the other runners on! Info forthcoming on watch and post-race parties.
