HELP ME KEEP DIKSHA IN SCHOOL and
HELP SAVE THE WORLD, ONE GIRL AT A TIME!
Please consider contributing(as little as $10 will help)! Just click on the big ORANGE BUTTON to the right if you’ve read enough :) Want to know more? (I was hoping you would ask )
Why Sponsor Diksha?
A little info: She's from the Gorkha district; (it’s a remote part of Nepal). Diksha's 13 years old and is in grade 7. She loves to read all types of books and would like to be a doctor when she grows up. Her teachers say she is a very good student and is serious about her studies, but her family are improverished farmers who simply cannot afford to pay for her education.
She is identified a by locally developed NGO Volunteers Initiative Nepal, as being at high risk for being taken out of school early. Which means Diksha could end up part of the 57% of Nepalese women who are illiterate and bond in a cycle of poverty and oppression.
In Nepal, less than Fifty percent of all children make it past the eighth grade, by the ninth grade, enrollment for girls is less than 24 percent.
Please help me to keep Diksha in school this year!
Every ten dollars counts, for even a little education for a Nepalese girl makes a huge difference.
With every grade completed, a girl's income potential and family's economic stability rockets upwards.
Women's education is correlated with better health: reduced infection rates, reduced rates of maternal and infant mortality, increased immunization among children, lower birth rates, and overall healthier families.
Thinking of getting me a holiday gift? Or buying that 2nd latte? The latte is probably more than you were thinking of gifting me, but I’m cool; consider, one latte a week ($230 a year) would pay for all of Diksha’s school expenses.
It will take only 23 of us donating $10 each (Crowdrise's minimum) to cover the following for Diksha:
· her admission fees
· her examination fees
· her monthly tuition fees
· her two sets of uniforms (shirt, pants, sweater, tie, belt, shoes, bag etc)
· her stationery and books
· her medication
· her child club support
· support for community development activities in her village
· administrative charge (including correspondence with her; follow up and monitoring of her)
There are 3 easy ways you can get involved and make a big impact this holiday season (and, in the process, get automatically entered to win a free week’s stay at the beautiful Tree Tops Cottage on Maui!)
· Donate to Diksha’s Team Hit the orange ‘DONATE’ button on the right!
· Join Diksha’s Team (No Money? None Necessary!) You can still help spread the word about this good cause. Tell your parents, your cousins, your best friend from college, your roommates, the person who wouldn’t donate at the office and you want to get ‘em moving - whatever! Get your community involved this holiday season!
