BENEFITING: CITIZEN SCHOOLS INC
Apprenticeships make a difference.
Each year, more than 1,000 volunteers in the Boston area become "Citizen Teachers," teaching inspiring apprenticeship classes to middle school students in low-income communities.
They're part of Citizen Schools, a non-profit organization that partners with middle schools to expand the learning day to help all students discover and achieve their dreams.
Now friends, family and colleagues of these dedicated volunteers have the opportunity to support them and make an even bigger impact on Greater Boston's students.
Through the Sponsor My Apprenticeship campaign, Citizen Teachers share the amazing dreams they are bringing to life in Boston classrooms and workplaces. And as they teach each week, they mobilize their community to raise awareness and funding to help even more students access the expanded learning that Citizen Schools provides.
Each apprenticeship is an opportunity to open a door to a bright future. Every student needs experiences like these to attain the skills and aspirations that enable them to fulfill their potential. But one in five families lives below the poverty line, and parents' resources go to food, housing and health before they can go to out-of-school learning opportunities.
Citizen Schools works to integrate enriching and rigorous learning experiences into public schools, so that big dreams can become realities for more and more future leaders in Boston.
Citizen Teachers turn their passion into action. By sponsoring their apprenticeships, everyone can make a difference.
