Sports without politics

THE STORY:

All county recreation departments are funded, therefore controlled, by the local board of commissioners. Our particular rec dept. has become a disgrace to our community. The grounds are in disarray, the equipment is dilapidated and the fields are borderline unusable. I grew up at that park and have seen what it was and could be again if we, as a community, were in control. The money is there when participation is where it should be. In other words, the place will fund itself once it gets started on the right track. As it stands now, all of the money that comes in goes to the county and gets spent other places while the park continues to suffer. Participation is down because no one wants to send their child to a place where their hard earned money will be wasted. I want to change all of that, I want to buy the park from the county, repair the facilities and bring our local sports and recreation back to the level it used to be and should be. Clean facilities with bathrooms that actually function, fields that kids can play on without breaking bones by stepping in holes, tennis courts with nets and lines marking them off, basketball courts with real goals and backboards, and equipment to maintain it all. I know it is a long shot, I know it will be difficult, but I want my kids to grow up in a place where they can participate in sports and be proud to tell people where they came from. I want them to get outside, away from the TV, and live healthier. I want this for not just my kids, but all of the kids in my community and generations to come. I have the knowledge to do this, I have help from key members of the community, and I have the drive to make it all happen. The only thing I need is funding. Please help me help the youth of my community.
