We all know that parents want the best for their kids. And when it comes to health and nutrition, parents always try to enforce good practices in order to provide their children with the healthiest meals. But what happens when good intentions is not followed through with informed decisions? Some vegan parents believe that a vegan diet is best for their kids, but they may not be making informed decisions. Recently it was discovered that the only American participant in the Rio Olympics 2016 weightlifting event is a strict vegan. This may no doubt impress some people and spark a renewed vegan trend among the masses. Some parents have even gone as far as to enforce a vegan diet in the entire household, where very young kids have to abstain from eating animal products. While this is considered safe if parents have thought about suitable alternatives to feed their kids, the same may not happen with parents who did not make informed decisions. They might have been misled by pro-vegan information so freely distributed on the Internet. The consequences are quite dire as children who lack certain nutrition may not develop or grow properly. In some cases, the child may be hospitalized for being undernourished or worse, perish from suffering complications (a baby in France was found dead due to vitamin deficiency). I urge parents to think carefully about restricting their kids to a vegan diet. Thankfully, nonprofits like the American Academy of Pediatrics are doing all they can to raise awareness about this issue. Let’s support their stance to create more well-informed parents before they enforce their kids to a life of veganism. Daisy Crum - Vegan Activist, Blogger for PhenQ Testimonials
