Join us today in supporting Chicago Collegiate!
May 16, 2016
Many of you are already aware of our involvement with Chicago Collegiate – a charter school located in the often challenging neighborhood of Roseland on Chicago’s far south side. The School’s mission: equip all students with the academic skills, intellectual habits and character traits to succeed in the college of their choice, lead in their communities and change the world. We became involved with this organization to be part of something special – to help provide an opportunity for Chicago children that they might not otherwise have. Currently, only 60% of Chicago public school students graduate from high school and only 8% from college. Our students and teachers share a singular focus: to ensure that 100% of our students complete college within six years of graduation.
For this fundraiser, we our focusing our efforts on raising money for end of year trips for the students. This is a vital component of the learning experience and something the students work hard for and look forward to each year. This year, our fourth graders will explore Chicago and spend the night in the dorms at Loyola; our fifth graders will head out of state to explore Milwaukee and Marquette; our sixth graders will head to outdoor ed camp and our seventh graders will head to St. Louis and Wash U. Each group will stay overnight in college dorms, tour the campus, eat in the cafeteria, and hang out on campus. The students will also explore the city, museums, restaurants and more. For Chicago Collegiate scholars, many will travel away from home for the first time. These trips are centered on one goal only – to illustrate that endless possibilities become a reality when our students potential for greatness is visualized. Experiences such as the end of year trips foster community and help students realize the vast opportunities out there for them! In order to give each scholar this opportunity, we ask for your support!
