Amana Academy Squawk & Walk

FUNDRAISER SET UP DEADLINE: Apr 19, 2014
Amana Academy is a K-8 public school of choice that follows the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Outward Bound-inspired Expeditionary Learning model. Our goal is to inspire the motivation to learn, engage teachers and students in new levels of focus and effort, and push outside the four walls of the classroom so that our learning environment fosters a desire in our students and our staff to become leaders of their own learning.
As a charter school, Amana receives a portion of its funding from Fulton County; however there is a 17% budget shortfall that Amana faces every year. Where traditional public schools receive funding for their facilities and other capital costs, charter schools do not. Therefore, Amana must make up this difference by running more efficiently, seeking government and foundation grants, staging an Annual Campaign, and seeking sponsorships and in-kind donations from community partners such as yourself.
On April 19, Amana is hosting its first annual Squawk & Walk in Wills Park. Participants will walk 2 miles on the park's trails, ending at the back of the school where we will gather for a chicken barbecue and celebration. We anticipate that we will have 400 people in attendance.
