THE STORY:

Community Health Assessment Mobile Project (CHAMP)

Goal: Accelerate Health Interventions and Early Assessment

Here’s The Story:
When symptoms such as memory problems first appear, an early medical evaluation is important. With over 5 million people in the United States currently estimated to have Alzheimer’s Disease or a related dementia, and predictions that this number will reach upwards of 16 million by 2050, treating memory disorders early and helping these individuals maintain self-sufficiency is important and represents enormous potential savings of money, time and energy of family members.

In addition, there are an estimated 8 million people in the U.S. living with Mild Cognitive Impairment. With increased life expectancy and the high rates of MCI cases progressing to Alzheimer’s Disease or a related dementia, MCI will likely have a growing impact on society, particularly in terms of burden and costs to family caregivers. Thus, if early memory decline can be treated, slowed down, reversed or prevented, the benefit to society and families will be enormous.

Our Initiative:
The Signature Research Institute, a 501(c)3 organization, is raising funds to initiate the Community Health Assessment Mobile Project (CHAMP). CHAMP is a mobile computer lab on wheels intended to provide needed resources to rural and underserved communities. The CHAMP lab will be located within a bus and equipped with tables, seating, laptops, printers, and other equipment required for basic medical and cognitive screenings as well as conducting survey research.

Your Role:
1. Donate using the button above.
2. Email, Tweet or Facebook to your own friends and family to help spread the word and fundraise for the CHAMP project.

We Can Make A Difference:
According to the latest research, brain change is not a one-way street downhill. Under the right circumstances the brain can “fight back” to resist dementia. Early identification of people who show signs of Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s Disease or a related dementia can help decrease the risk of further deterioration.
