Silver Springs Vineyard Church
Organized by: Silver Springs Vineyard Church
Event Name: Good News Rockland Run
EVENT DATE Oct 03, 2015
When God births a vision for something, we have to respond. In 2008, Pastor David Kim and his family answered the call to plant a church in Nyack, NY to a diverse community of people. And so Silver Springs Vineyard Church was established on Easter of that year. Worshiping in various locations throughout the Village of Nyack, the church ministered to single moms, drug and alcohol addicts, the mentally ill, and the homeless. Outreaches also targeted families through events like an Easter Egg Hunt, movie and game nights, and an outdoor soup kitchen after the Hurricane Sandy (please watch the video).
These programs and outreaches reflect Silver Springs Vineyard Church’s conviction to be a “church without walls.” Hence the church’s vision statement, ‘a place to find God, build relationships, and make a difference.'
There are many opportunities for God's work to be done in Nyack and there is a need for a permanent building for Silver Springs to call home. The primary reason for a permanent place is as follows - God has burdened Silver Springs with the homeless in the area. It’s heartbreaking to see men and women living on the street or in the woods. Some have even lost their lives in the cold winter months when temporary shelters close their doors at a certain time. And for many from the homeless population, even if they want to break their cycle, not having a permanent address and/or a place to shower is a huge problem to overcome if they want to simply go for a job interview. These are things many of us take for granted. Yes, there is a program during the harsh winter months where places of worship house the homeless overnight on a rotating basis. However there is no long-term solution to this very real problem but if even one person can be helped, it's all worth it. So Silver Springs Vineyard Church is raising funds to purchase a building to be used for worship, a community center, and a halfway house (which will be called Restore! House, a name given by the Lord, to be a place to restore HOPE, dignity, and purpose).
Pastor David has prayed for $10,000 to start the building purchase fund, and God has answered that prayer. We are still in need of $90,000 to buy and renovate a space in Nyack. With the Good News Rockland Run, we hope to raise another $10,000. Currently Pastor David is actively looking at different possibilities for space. Please prayerfully consider giving for Silver Springs Vineyard Church to continue to be a “church without walls.” Thank you and may God favor you with His blessings!
