BENEFITING: ARMS WIDE OPEN CHILDHOOD CANCER FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Sep 24, 2016
September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Childhood cancer is underfunded (just 4% of the national budget goes to research all of the different childhood cancers) and not recognized as the killer that it is for our children. Every day, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer - 12% do not survive. Of those that do, 60% of suffer late-effects, such as infertility, heart failure and secondary cancers. The average age of children diagnosed is six. St. Baldrick's is dedicated to providing funding for research of childhood cancer treatments.
