BENEFITING: H2O FOR LIFE
Each year, we encourage our students to become involved in a charitable service project to foster activism within the global community. Last year, we decided to direct our efforts towards a charity that directly benefits children, so we signed on to help raise funds for Ecole Mixte Action Fraternelle in Haiti. Our students rose to the challenge and exceeded their fundraising goal. As our continued hope, is to foster a sense of responsibility and fellowship with others in their age group who do not have access to the same basic necessities of daily life, we have decided to take on an entire project on our own this year. Therefore we have decided to sponsor a school in South Sudan. We will encourage community outreach, by sending student groups to local business and fellowship groups to explain our cause and solicit financial support. There will be additional fundraising and educational opportunities throughout the year. Once again, our 6th, 7th and 8th graders will participate in a walk in May to “put themselves in the shoes” of those for whom water is not easily accessible. We will also be including the primary grades, by having them complete an abbreviated walk.
