St. Ignatius School is a Jesuit-sponsored middle school, inspired by the founding vision of Nativity Mission Center on New York's Lower East Side.
In the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx, one of the country’s poorest congressional districts, St. Ignatius School (SIS) offers hope to an underserved community of families seeking to break a relentless cycle of poverty. Our mission is to empower students to become their best selves by creating a safe and nurturing community that fosters intellectual, spiritual, and social growth. An independent, tuition-free middle school (grades 6-8), SIS is committed to the success of its students not only in middle school, but — with guidance, tutoring, and financial support — through high school and college.
St. Ignatius School is a private, non-tuition school, supported financially through the generosity of individuals and with the help of corporate and foundation grants. Our annual operating budget of $1.5M comes exclusively from private, outside benefactors, foundations and investors.
Our website captures the impact SIS has on the community.
