BENEFITING: Saint Louise House
EVENT DATE: Jul 31, 2017
The Real Estate Council of Austin has selected Saint Louise House to be the beneficiary of their 2017 Christmas in October event. The Christmas in October committee will be seeking both in-kind and monetary donations to help make the improvements to the property.
Saint Louise House was founded in 2000 to address the drastic shortage of safe housing and supportive services for homeless women and children. They provide deeply affordable and supportive housing for low income homeless women and their children with the goal of helping families develop long-term stability. Saint Louise House has grown from the rental of five apartments in 2001 to ownership of two 24-unit apartment complexes with enough financial operating support in 2015 to help 34 families. In an apartment-style housing environment, families are encouraged to be a part of a supportive community as they work or attend school.
To achieve their mission of empowering women with children to overcome homelessness, they provide housing and a program that includes case management, counseling, life skills training and employment services. Saint Louise House collaborates with the families, their partner organizations, donors and volunteers to serve the most vulnerable of our community in their hour of need—and in the months and years that follow.
