We learned that in Liberia people walk up to 5 miles a day for access to clean water. Though closer water sources often exist, they are often stagnant dangerous bodies of water. St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, in Rochester Michigan is trying to drill 16 wells across Liberia. Each well will cost about $3,000 to install and maintain. These wells will provide water for 40,000 people in Liberia. We set a church wide goal of raising $50,000 for these wells. You can imagine, this is a monumental task, but we felt that access to clean water is such an important component to global health we were up to the challenge. Every $1.25 we raise provides access to clean water for one person. How many people can you provide clean water for?
