BENEFITING: Pulmonary Hypertension Association Inc
EVENT: Thirsting for a Cure
EVENT DATE: Sep 26, 2015
I am part of Team Thirsting for a Cure and dang, I sure am thirsty after 9 years of having Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension! I am making light of this, but it is truly a devastating disease for the 20-30k Americans (of all ages) whose lives have been impacted not only physically, but also emotionally and financially. The fundraising dollars are going directly to a 4-star rated charity (the highest rating that only a handful of non-profits can attain), so rest assured that your dollars are being well used for patient support, advocacy, awareness and research. Thirsting for a Cure's funds have been designated to benefit the Robyn J. Barst Pediatric Research Fund as no current PH treatments are FDA approved for the pediatric population. We need to change that! Will you help us create momentum to help save the lives of our tiniest PH'ers? Many of them wear oxygen or are attached to a medication pump that prevents them from swimming and enjoying water sports. They can't run and jump like their peers and know all too well the hospital and medical office routines. These are often the children that you see on the news waiting for double lung transplants as this is the only "cure" for those with PH. I want a cure for myself and all the other adults......but I have been to prom and graduated from college and experienced adventures pre and post marriage and have many memories of life without a serious/progressive disease. These kids need a chance for hope of life without PH! Pictured on my page is one of our little ones that has PH. Joel is seen wearing his backpack that holds his IV medication pump. He is just one of the examples of our smallest warriors! I welcome any donations to this page or if you would like to start your own fundraising team for this event, please join us! The live wine/spirits event in the heart of the beautiful Columbia Gorge will feature award winning wines from Oregon and Washington Sept 26 2015. If you would like to attend in person, please contact me!
