Let's Lace It. Race It. and Face Autism Together
Maddie's 'A' Team is thrilled to participate in the 4th annual Akron Autism 5k and Walk! This is our 3rd year participating already!!
January 3, 2012 will forever be a special day for our family...the day Maddie was diagnosed with Autism! Every year we celebrate her 'A' Day and all of her accomplishments and victories, big and small :)
Maddie has made leaps and bounds since her diagnosis. From only having 4 words at age 18 months to now having a rather extensive vocabulary is just mind blowing. Through speech and occupational therapy, we began to see our Maddie :) She is a bright, fun loving, happy-go-lucky little girl who loves to laugh and be silly. She is currently attending Family Child Learning Center Preschool(FCLC) in Tallmadge and continuing to do great great things! We are so proud of her! We are so blessed to have her for our daughter :)
Please consider donating or joining our team! We would love to have you! Last year we had almost 30 team members! The support was overwhelming! Overall over 2,250 people came out to support Autism and together we helped raise $90,000 for our local community!!!
The Autism Society of Greater Akron’s (ASGA) Walk and 5k is a fun, healthy, and effective way to show your support for all those impacted by autism in our community and to raise funds for ASGA – all money raised here, stays here! The run is a 5k timed course and this year, we are offering a new twist: timed walkers who can walk the 3.1 mile course and compete for fun prizes! The Family Fun Walk is 1.2 miles and takes into consideration those who might not want to walk three miles, but are with us all the way! The race and walk both kick-off at the same time this year at 9:00 a.m. , with activities and entertainment following.
Your generosity helps us continue to serve our community and continue our vision that all affected by autism have ready access to services and supports needed to be safe, educated, healthy, productive and able to pursue happy and fulfilling lives. Don’t forget that every dollar raised here stays here. Together we will Face Autism Together!
Thank You and we hope to see you June 14th!!
