This is just a follow-up to let you all know that. This past 2 weeks has been soooo good. I am very happy and grateful. My last chemo treatment See More

THE STORY:

My name is Stafon Jackson, I am a 3-time colon cancer survivor, fighting this battle. My life changed when my daughter died of a childhood cancer. This was my introduction in the cancer world. Who would have thought 11 years later I would battle cancer myself. April 19, 2010 I was in the battle for my life, I was diagnosed with stage 2B Colorectal Cancer. I was a 40 -year old healthy woman (so I thought) with no family history and no recognizable symptoms. I had perforation of the colon a perforated colon is a disorder of the gastrointestinal tract. My colon showed a complete hole, which allowed the contents of the intestine to flow into my abdominal cavity, and a piece of my colon broke apart and wrapped around my appendix. Perforation of the colon is a medical emergency. I stayed in the hospital for up to 3 months, I was a very very sick woman. I recovered in 2011 - 2012. As I started to live and try to get back to living life normal I had a reoccurrence July 30, 2013. I was diagnosed with 2B Colon Cancer with the metastasis to my Ovaries. I went through an emergency procedure to remove the Krukenberg tumor which is a malignancy in the ovaries that metastasized from a primary site, Krukenberg tumors are often (over 80%) found in both ovaries. I was completely shocked at this point; I became numb and confused all at the same time. I kept telling myself “NO this can’t be happening to me again, "What Tha Hell" all I wanted at that moment was to go back to the way things were. I started another 12 rounds of chemotherapy. It was harder this time, but I fought the battle. While going through my own battle and not for sure what my life would be. I received my vision and purpose for my life, it all came full circle with the powerful words spoken from my daughter herself before passing: “Mommy when I become an angel please don’t forget me.” Her words have stuck in my mind for 16 years. This is when I started my CNJ Foundation in memory of my daughter Cherae. I am dedicated to speaking and assisting the community. Since my first and second battles of colon cancer, I've been able to concentrate more in hopes to get my foundation up and going to help families going through the battle of fighting childhood and colon cancer. While in this process or changing careers, getting finances back on track. I continue my follow up care/scans to ensure that I remain healthy and cancer free. On July 26, 2016 I went through a series of test and after learning where the cancer had moved to, it was revealed to me that the cancer had metastasis into my lungs. I am now 47 yrs old and figured my life is looking very bleak, no future, no real relationship I felt no nothing. Just the thought of me fighting this battle for a third time scared the hell out of me. However, I knew this was going to be a long battle and much, much harder fight than the other two; I needed to make some decisions and fast. Sometimes I cry to myself silently, but I quickly remember that God didn’t bring me this far to leave me. I now know that this battle will require additional and more aggressive chemotherapy treatments, I was shocked to find out that I had to 36 weeks of treatments ahead of me. I cried like a baby, because I didn't want to stop my life anymore to deal with the likes of cancer. I just couldn't do it anymore. All I could think about was the financial strains and hardship this has been put on my life once again. With this treatment being every week I am not able to work full-time. While many may have felt defeated, I use these experiences and my life to encourage others so that I am able to encourage myself. I put God first in my every hour, second and day of my life, He makes it all better and just to know that He is in the ring fighting with me. God has never loss a battle or fight. I am so grateful to have an abundance of friends and support that is walking this journey and battle with me, they keep me prayed up. When you’re looking death in the face, it changes your life forever. I tell people the truth about living with colon cancer, getting screened and about this disease. God has my back-keep living and keep believing, (from the words of my three year-old daughter, “Mommy Keep Smiling” #LiveOutLoud #GodIsBiggerThanThat
