WASHINGTON ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL wrote -
There is no better place to spend summer than on Puget Sound yet despite its majestic beauty, this place we love is in danger.
With increasing threats of oil and coal tankers moving through the Salish Sea in addition to rapidly shrinking habitat, it’s going to take each and every one of us to stand up for the Sound!
The People For Puget Sound program at WEC stands up for the Sound by advocating policies in Olympia that protect the health of our waterways and habitat, as well as working on the ground with engaged citizens in five of Washington’s Aquatic Reserves.
People just like you have volunteered thousands of hours on the Aquatic Reserves: monitoring beach habitat, educating their neighbors about Puget Sound restoration, and standing up for safe, clean, and vibrant coastal communities for all - people and surf smelt alike. But project funding cuts threaten the work of these local committees.
You can make a difference for Puget Sound habitat and Aquatic Reserve citizen stewards when you stand up for the Sound. When you join our team of fundraisers or make a gift today you are making a big impact in our ability to continue critical programs that protect Puget Sound and the habitat within it.
