Hi! I'm Aerynn.
Below you can read a note about the Starfish Project; here is my connection:
About 6 years ago, I had the pleasure of hearing a talk by Jenny McGee, and hearing music by her husband Doug. I also had multiple friends who were Advocates for Starfish Project, and one friend who moved overseas as a Starfish employee for a few years.
I'm a singer-songwriter living in the UK, and for the 30-day fundraiser, I'm forwarding any CD and digital download earnings to the Starfish Project Expansion Campaign. My music is available in the USA and the UK, via www.aerynn.com.
Earnings from my street performances will also go toward this campaign. Very excited to be part of the team!!! Please donate directly, if you feel so moved.
STARFISH PROJECT INCORPORATED wrote -
Starfish Project is a globally respected social enterprise that has helped more than 100 women out of sexually exploitive situations by giving them alternative employment making jewelry and leadership opportunities to help run the Project’s business operations. In 2006 Starfish began with five women working around a table in an apartment and has expanded to offering employment and holistic care services in three different cities in Asia. Our jewelry is now sold in more than 60 boutiques and throughout a network of Advocates in North America.
Why We Are Here:
After successfully developing a business model and holistic care program, Starfish Project is now expanding in order to help even more women. The funds raised through this Crowdrise Expansion campaign will be used to accelerate production and expand its services and operational capabilities.
“The more money we raise, the more jewelry we can sell into larger chains. That lets us save more women, which is always our goal.” - Jenny McGee, Founder and CEO.
Your donation through this Expansion Campaign will provide the funds to help Starfish Project expand, hire more women, and provide them with the tools to empower themselves.
Other Ways to Support:
Starfish Project has an independent sales program that allows women to hold house parties and sell jewelry with her friends and earn 25% commission.
All profits of Starfish Project go to pay the women’s salaries and support the programs and infrastructure to provide the for the women’s holistic aftercare. Starfish Project is 501c3 status (US) and FAIR TRADE FEDERATED. Its US operations are based in Goshen, Indiana.
