THE STORY:

Starlight Children's Foundation wrote -

Starlight Fun Centers provide the healing power of play to children and families in the hospital. Powered by the Wii U from Nintendo, Fun Centers offer family-friendly video games and online accessibility to provide kids and families with distraction, entertainment and a sense of normalcy. To a child, a Fun Center unit is a friend after visiting hours have ended or game time with family and friends. To caregivers, it is a non-intrusive pain and fear management tool that supports recovery by engaging kids in activity.

Help bring Starlight Fun Centers to hospitals in need by donating or joining this fundraiser TODAY. To create your own customized fundraiser click JOIN THIS FUNDRAISER or DONATE to show your support.

Each Starlight Fun Center donation of $5,000 helps Starlight build a hospital-friendly unit with all hardware, training, set-up support and ongoing Starlight support over the lifetime of the Fun Center.

Nurses, physicians, child life specialists and parents agree that Fun Centers greatly improve health outcomes for pediatric patients. Fun Centers are often used to encourage children to do their physical therapy and aid in motor coordination exercises, and their design allows pediatric patients, even those with limited mobility, to enjoy the Fun Center with ease.

“The Starlight Fun Center has minimized stress and anxiety that a child may experience here in the hospital, it has helped children cope with pain, it has helped us establish trust with a child, it has fostered compliance and it has allowed children to still be children and play while hospitalized.” - Tanya, Child Life Specialist
