We all can help this dream come true
April 04, 2016

Just came in to look at the progress my fundraiser is doing.  Haven't gotten any donations yet, but I have faith in my higher power that it See More

My passion is to start a charity that helps individuals to obtain tornado shelters and other life saving items needed. Along with this my charity will also provide funds to those after the storms. I witness the effect of the Dallas, Texas area tornado of December 26, 2015. My family was affected. So many families can not afford a tornado shelter because they are living pay check to pay check or their landlords will now allow them any. In the tornado area many homes are still not tarped off, because the home owners did not have the money to afford the cost of damage like that, and their homes still sit untouched because they don't have the money for the deductible. Many of families are single parents, veterans and the elderly. I witnessed the community to come together, but also witnessed many gaps. The families that were displaced from the apartment, don't have the means to get a new place to live. Many lost their vehicles in the tornado and risk losing their job due to lack of transportation. There are natural disasters everywhere. I will not only be focused on tornadoes, it will include all natural disasters prevention and help after. The goal of the charity is to be able to fund free tornado shelters to individuals within a certain guideline. This guideline will not be based upon the poverty level. It will based upon your local cost of living and the actual income the family brings home. Tornado shelters will not be limited to just individuals, business, and community centers (ie: schools, churches, etc), will also be allowed to apply. With any monies left over, individuals can request help with paying their deductions or any other area in which they need help after the disaster. For individuals that are above the free guidelines they will be offered a grant for partial payment or a free to low cost loan. As I had said before, this will not be limited to just tornado shelter, it will also be for hurricane ties, earthquake prevention for older homes and other natural disasters. This idea is new, and this is where I need your help. I am raising funds (or obtain free help) to start my not for profit charity. I am in need of lawyer to ensure that I have every protection out there, and to register as a 501(c). I am in need of board of directors. I know this will come after I have set up my business name. I need an accountant for the funds coming in and out. Money for ongoing advertisement and other administrators cost. My goal is to have at least 80 cents or more of each dollar coming in going towards the actual cause (tornado shelter, hurricane ties, etc). Thank you for you help in my mission.
