PHOENIX IDEA LAB's Fundraiser:

Nestled against Lake Erie in the northwestern corner of Pennsylvania sits Erie County, an area of unrealized potential. Home to approximately 280,566 residents, the county sits on a rich abundance of natural resources and attractions mixed within a long industrial and manufacturing history. Centrally located between the cities of Cleveland, Buffalo and Pittsburgh, it is a natural choice for GE Transportation's Headquarters. Our traditionally heavy manufacture industry lingers, as Erie currently produces 10% of the nation's plastics. Yet it is our access to nearly 77 miles of Lake Erie Coastline, over 2,300 miles of streams, nearly 30,000 acres of wetlands, and 32,000 acres of parks and recreation land with the abundance of wildlife that make Erie a destination worth visiting. Erie County contains over 11,000 acres of vineyards and 27% of its land is dedicated to agriculture. An active nightlife, a hub of entertainment, and a center for education-- Erie County is our gem on the lake.

Among all the things we have to offer Erie County has a series of concerns that affect our population greatly. Most significantly is poverty: nearly 17% of our population is below the poverty line, a staggering 23% of our children live within households under the poverty line. While over 1/3rd of our population did not earn a living wage in 2012. It is this poverty that underscores the importance of nonprofit organizations in our region. Access to programs and services for health care, education, workforce development, and quality-of-life programs becomes crucial for sustaining the county's population.
It was with this in mind that the Nonprofit Profile Project was begun and Phoenix Idea Lab was born out of this project. Affectionately referred to as N3P by Phoenix staff members and interns, N3P was created to gather data on Erie and surrounding county nonprofits and to install that data into an accessible platform to help nonprofits identify their challenges and opportunities.
The collection of this data gave Phoenix a plan. Why not take the information we have about what these organizations need and create an organization to donate services to help get them on the right track?
Phoenix Idea Lab offers pro-bono services for non-profits within the Erie area. Phoenix is capable of providing local nonprofits with services such as competitive and business intelligence, research and analysis, data capture and management reporting, social media, and visual identity and brand strategy. With your help, Phoenix Idea Lab will lead, mobilize and engage young professionals, drive social change using expertise in strategy, project management, communication, intelligence, technology and design, and provide a reliable, high quality, cost-effective, and scalable resource base for organizations and cross sector collaborations based on demand.
Additionally, Phoenix Idea Lab uses its social media accounts to bring additional awareness and visibility to local nonprofits. Phoenix staff members attend and cover nonprofits events and post live video and photos to Phoenix Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Phoenix also reaches outside of Erie to national and global organizations through a micro-volunteering network. Phoenix Idea Lab has volunteered over $55,000 in volunteer work for nonprofits all over the country and all over the world.
Through supporting Phoenix with your donations, you are supporting those organizations that we reach out to, not only locally in the Erie Region, but also across the nation and around the world. Like Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry said, Phoenix is not giving up the ship. Help us by donating to our cause to not only help one, but many.
