Starting over with our Chickens
Organized by: Jamie Wilhelm
A few months ago we lost all our chickens, it was all of a sudden. We don't know if they were killed off by a predator or if they were stolen but the way they all vanished suddenly without a trace makes us all wonder. Joe loved those chickens and took really good care of them. We enjoyed having free ranged chickens and providing delicious farm fresh eggs to the community. Ava enjoyed collecting eggs daily and selling them. She didn't make much but she was saving money and putting it into a savings account. Whenever we would lose a chicken here and there it was always so hard on Joe and he was always working on improving their coop. A week before we lost them all he spent a few days building a door that would open in the morning and let the chickens out and would close them in for safety at night. He was trying to keep them safe and protect our investment. The day they all vanished was very hard on our family we all shed some tears that day. Joe felt all his time and efforts were a complete waste, Ava was sad that she lost a job that she loved. Joe said he was done and didn't think he could start all over. Now that Joe has had some time to heal he is ready to try again. Since we lost so much losing them and it will take a lot to start over, I was hoping to get some help, no matter how small anything will help. We want to make sure this time is a success and in order to do that we need to install cameras and make a bigger and safer coop for our chickens. We need to find a way to allow these chickens to roam and be safe at the same time. Anything will help if you can that would be greatly appreciated.
